LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS

Learning environments? What do you mean?

At the request of schools, we offer three different choices of learning environment in terms of exercise set answers, solutions and walkthroughs.

What are answers, solutions and walkthroughs?
  • Answers are what are found at the back of a schoolbook.
  • Solutions are what a student should write down when answering a question, i.e. they are what are found in a teacher’s handbook.
  • Walkthroughs are detailed explanations of where the solutions come from.

All three of these are provided for every exercise set question.

What are the three different learning environments?

\[\,\]

1) Full Access

In this environment, both students and teachers always have full access to all exercise set answers, solutions and walkthroughs.

This is equivalent to each student and teacher purchasing one of our individual memberships (but cheaper!).

Schools should choose this environment if… the exercise sets will not be used as schoolwork or homework. Instead, they will be used as additional questions that students can practice with in their own time.

\[\,\]

2) Traditional

In this environment, students always have access to answers only whereas teachers always have access to answers, solutions and walkthroughs.

This is equivalent to a more traditional setup in which students have access only to answers at the back of a schoolbook whereas teachers also have access to the solutions in a teacher’s handbook (with the added bonus of walkthroughs as well!)

Schools should choose this environment if… the exercise sets will be used as schoolwork and/or homework and corrected by the teacher.

\[\,\]

3) Full Control

In this environment, students initially have access to answers only whereas teachers always have access to answers, solutions and walkthroughs.

Teachers can then choose to show and hide each set of solutions and walkthroughs on the accounts of their students as they like.

Schools should choose this environment if… the exercise sets will be used as schoolwork and/or homework and then corrected by the student as a form of self-assessment, thereby reducing teacher workload.

NOTES
  • For the first two environments, we only need to know the number of teacher and student accounts. For the third environment, however, we also need a breakdown how many students are in each class (so that teachers can show solutions to one class and not the other).
  • Teachers are free to ask us to move any students accounts to the “Full Access” environment at any time. For example, a teacher may have initially chosen the “Traditional” environment but may wish for their 6th year students to have access to all solutions and walkthroughs to help them with revision in the months leading up to their exams.
  • The mock exam papers that are included with individual memberships, including answers, solutions and video walkthroughs, can be accessed by all students and teachers in all three environments. We have a separate exam questions bank that is accessible only by teachers, again in all three environments.
